[When the feed comes on, Takeru's sitting inside a small cafe. Out of all his Pokemon, only his Emolga's out of his pokeball and is sitting on the table beside him. On the chair beside the blond, however, sits a nicely wrapped egg. But the focus remains on Takeru's gentle and smiling face.]

I can't believe another year's fast approaching. Seems like only yesterday I arrived in this place. [A lopsided smile.] It's weird, I feel old. [This is where Takeru chuckles to himself.]

Anyway, in light with the approaching new year, I'd like to know if you guys already know your resolutions? I know some doesn't make one, but for the ones who do, what are yours?

[A charming, wide smile follows after.] Only if you'd like to tell, of course.

[And with that, he ends the public video feed only to send a private one to Hikari.]

Hey, Hikari-chan! [The most charming smile is only for you, girlfriend.] Are you busy today? I know I said I'd go train by myself for a while, but um, I lied. [A sheepish chuckle as he rubs the back of his neck. Emolga just looks at him and sighs.] Sorry about that.

Anyway, if you're not busy, I'll be waiting for you here in the cafe. Everything's on me.

[Forgive your boyfriend for failing you when it comes to a surprise as he winks before turning off his Gear.]

I haven't really thought of any resolutions... But I probably should, huh?

What are yours, Takeru-kun?

[He hasn't really thought of any yet. He just wanted to hear others' so he can get some idea. But hey, he'll respond to Miyako's question, anyway, with a sheepish smile.]

Maybe I should be more creative with my surprises next year.

Creative with your surprises? [Three, two...]

Oh! You mean... those kinds of surprises?

[Since he doesn't think like a girl, he blinks.]

What do you mean those kind of surprises, Miyako-san?

You knoww.... those kinds! [And she does an odd head tilt. HINT HINT NUDGE NUDGE YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND WHY IS THIS SO HARD]

[Well, Hikari saw that message, but considering what it was about, she figured she shouldn't even answer. So as soon as she got dressed in something nice, there she was, heading over to the cafe. None of her pokémon were out of their balls, but she was carrying her egg with her.

When she made it over to the table, she giggled.]

Hi there, Takeru-kun. So, was this what you were trying to set up when you "went off to train"?

[He had never been one to assume okay. He's not Daisuke!]

Oh, you mean... [When the realization managed to hit him, he blushes and smiles sheepishly again.] Yeah, those kinds. I feel like I'm failing her in that regard.

[The moment he saw her enter the cafe dressed in something really nice, Takeru felt his heart skip a beat, if not a blush creeping up his face. He tried to act composed, though, but that's hard when a lucky guy like him has a cute girlfriend like Hikari.

Her question only made his heart skip another beat, however, that he quickly cleared his throat to answer.]

Uh, yeah... Guess I need more work on that area, huh? [A sheepish smile followed by his hand rubbing the back of his neck. Man oh man is he lame.]

[Hikari giggles, sitting down across from him and placing her egg down in one of the chairs.]

You don't need to worry about surprising me, you know.

[When she's finally seated, Takeru takes hold of one of her hands and smiles at her apologetically.]

But I want to. At least, from time to time, I want you to feel special.

[Hikari blushes and smiles at him, her hand tightening around his.]

Well, I already feel pretty special. I have you, don't I?

[Now it's Takeru's turn to blush bright red, though his smile only widened.]

You do. [A light squeeze of her hand.] Does that mean I don't have to surprise you every now and then?

[Hikari giggles.]

Well, surprises are fun, but no. You don't need to worry about it.

I'm the luckiest boy on earth.

[And with that, Takeru simply brings Hikari's hand closer to his lips to kiss her knuckles.]

[Hikari giggles.]

Takeru-kun...

[She's going to wait until he lets go of her hand before pulling it away.]

So, what are you thinking of getting?

[And when he finally lets go, Takeru smiles at her.]

Do you mean food? Well, I'll be having what you'll be having.

[Hikari smiles.]

Yes, of course I mean food silly.

[And hearing that, she's going to go to the menu, and try to figure out just what she wants to eat here.]

Sorry, I was just- [Takeru mentally thwacks himself for asking something stupid. He blames this on his jitters for failing on the surprise.]

So, what looks appetizing? [Changing the subject is a-go!]

Well, so far I'm torn between an egg sandwich and pancakes. Both of them sound really good.

How about we order both? Sounds good to you?

Sure, that sounds great to me.

Okay, hold on.

[With that, Takeru calls the waiter who obediently approaches them and takes their order. After taking them all down, the blond thanks him before he walks out.]

Oh, by the way, Hikari-chan, I raised a question through the Gear earlier and I thought I'd ask you the same thing. [He beams.] What's your new year's resolution?

[Hikari blinked at his sudden question, frowning a bit.]

Honestly, I haven't really given it much thought. I mean, I've already started doing most of what I wanted. I've been training my pokémon more, after all.

[There was also the stuff with the Guild, but Lightning would kill her if she mentioned the upcoming attempt to break into the Radio Tower and force out Team Rocket with people who weren't in the Guild. Especially in public.]

If I think of something, I'll let you know.

I wanna become a champion by the end of next year! And I want to make friends with more and more people.

[ One of these two might not become a thing, guess which one. ]

[His smile remains gentle and carefree.]
